A selection of our current artists

  • Iris Schelchen01

The German artist Iris Schelchen lives and works in Ratzeburg. From 2013 to 2017 she worked in a studio in an old shipyard in Hamburg. From 1995 to 2010 she had her own studio in an artists' community of about 40 creatives “Künstlerhof Frohnau” in Berlin. With great success, the auctioneer Christie's in Hamburg sold work by Iris Schelchen, in favor of the NCL Foundation. Another auction was in favor of an orphanage in Ghana. Iris Schelchen studied at the Freie Kunstschule in Berlin. Further seminars and workshops followed, amongst others with Sebastian Massanet Riera (Arta/Mallorca), Christoph Niess (Sylt); Knoblauch, Janco-Glage, Borchert (Berlin), Rolf Fässer (Berlin).

  • Salva Ginard02

When Salva Ginard, who was born in Palma de Mallorca in 1973, uses brushes and paints, one usually hears rock music in his studio. The color of the floor resembles a surreal flower meadow. And sometimes a song verse does not go out of his head during work — so he takes a pencil and simply writes it in the middle of his latest work. The artist, who has been painting for over twenty years, has influenced portrait painting with his controlled color explosions. In an abstract way, he removes the mask from the person depicted; the eyes, windows of the soul, radiate hope, confidence, curiosity and desire. Ginard's striking portraits, magically shifted horizontally or vertically, have fascinated art lovers and collectors for many years.

  • Romero Britto03

Brazilian-born Romero Britto (*1963) is an international artist that uses vibrant and colorful patterns to reflect his optimistic view of the world. Britto has created a visual language of hope and happiness, inspiring millions. Britto's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in over 100 countries, including the Salon de la Societé Nationale des Beaux Arts exhibition at the Carrousel du Louvre in 2008 and 2010. In 2013, Maria Elena and Carlos Slim Domit invited Romero to be the first living artist to exhibit at Museo Soumaya. He has created public art installations for the 02 Dome in Berlin, New York's John F. Kennedy Airport, Cirque Du Soleil at Super Bowl XLI, and has been credited with the largest monumental sculpture in London's Hyde Park history. Britto served as an official artist for the 2010 World Cup, Ambassador to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and was invited to be an honorary torch bearer for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Britto's art has led to many collaborations with international brands such as Audi, Bentley, Coca-Cola, Walt Disney, Evian, Hublot and Mattel to name a few. Britto is a believer, an agent of positive change.

  • Ira Volkova04

Ira Volkova is an experienced Ukrainian painter. The classically trained artist is a graduate of the Art School in Kharkiv and the National Academy of Fine Arts in Kyiv. Ira was born in Ukraine in 1977. After graduating from the art school in Kremenchuk, Ukraine, she attended the Art School in Kharkiv and then continued her studies at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. She currently lives and works in Kyiv and collaborates with many galleries worldwide. Many of her works have been acquired by the Presidential Administration of her country to welcome dignitaries on their official visits to Ukraine, as well as by other art lovers for private collections and by celebrities in Ukraine and other countries. The flower painter Ira Volkova is known for her hyperrealistic yet ethereal paintings of pink peonies, in which birds and female figures occasionally appear. She uses a combination of acrylic and oil paints, working in numerous delicate layers with great precision and attention to detail. The result is beautiful compositions that capture the natural, quiet beauty of her flowers. Ira Volkova currently lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine.

  • Domingo Zapata05

Born on Mallorca in 1974, the international artist is now based in New York. He is inspired by daily life as inspiration for his paintings. Zapatas work exhibits qualities of graffiti art and an interest in popular culture, as demonstrated by his images of female celebrities, iconic figures and works capturing the culture of bullfighting in his native Spain. Last year, Zapata created a 30,000 square feet large retrospective of his work across a 15-story vinyl canvas at Times Square.

  • Bryan Adams06

Bryan Adams has also been a passionate photographer for many years. His exhibitions are shown in museums and galleries worldwide. Bryan Adams has worked for many international magazines, including Interview, i-D, Harper's Bazaar and British and German Vogue. Adams' photography exhibitions have taken place at the Saatchi Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery in London, the NRW-Forum in Düsseldorf and most recently at the Musée National des Beaux-arts in Quebec, Canada, among others.

05 — About the Gallery

AHOY! Art Gallery is an independent gallery for contemporary art based in Mallorca/Spain. It was founded in 2013 by Renate and Michael Pentzien in Port Adriano/Mallorca; the gallery later moved into significantly larger premises in the heart of Palma's old town. Countless and widely acclaimed exhibitions — including with Fabrizio Plessi, Bryan Adams, Gunter Sachs, Romero Britto, Udo Lindenberg, Tom Jacobi and Domingo Zapata — made AHOY! Art Gallery one of the most renowned galleries in the Balearic Islands. Since spring 2026, AHOY! Art Gallery has been presenting itself exclusively online and offers consultancy for interior design — primarily in Mallorca — in new ways.

Our main concern is to find our clients exactly the art that suits them and their home. To develop a feeling for the people who come to us with their very personal ideas.

Simply different: The Ahoy! team continues to present a carefully curated selection of works by internationally renowned as well as emerging local artists. Art inspires change, art crosses boundaries, art is a good investment, and art lifts the mood. That is the essence of the Ahoy! concept. Discover our collection also at www.ahoygallery.com.

Renate Pentzien has been a passionate art collector and supporter of artists for several decades. After her studies, she worked as an assistant and model for the photographer Gunter Sachs and produced the photo book LICHTBILDER with the artist. Later she hosted art and cultural programmes for German television (ARD), before dedicating herself entirely to art with the opening of the Ahoy! Gallery in Port Adriano and Palma de Mallorca.

The art market has evolved, and so Renate Pentzien is taking new paths: „We come to you. Browse our website for works that inspire you, or contact us directly and we will present selected works for your private or commercial spaces. Our clients and Ahoy! friends trust us to choose art that matches their personality. Understanding your vision is our mission."

For us, the selection of art for our clients is based on commitment. We are very happy about the trust our clients place in us. And: personal advice is at the heart of what we do.

Works from our portfolio are available for purchase internationally; on request, we take care of professional framing, secure transport, and customs matters if necessary. Talk to us — we are happy to help.
